Red, White and Blues July group exhibition at Darke Gallery
Darke Gallery is pleased to present
the Red, White and Blues July group exhibition and concert featuring
Milton Hopkins and Texas Johnny Boy.
Twenty of Houston’s finest emerging
artists will illuminate the gallery with sculpture, ceramics, paintings,
works on paper and one of a kind jewelry
The blues concert will feature Houston’s
own Milton Hopkins and Texas Johnny Boy. Milton Hopkins was a founding
member of Houston’s Upsetters, played back up for Sam Cooke, Jackie
Wilson and Dee Clarke and spent nine years on the road with B.B. King.
After playing together years ago in the Reddi Room, Milton has reunited
with Texas Johnny Boy to thrill us with real Texas blues!
Artist’s reception and concert is
Saturday July 5, from 5 to 8 pm. Refreshments are provided.
The exhibition will continue through
July 19.
Darke Gallery is in the heart of
Houston’s west end. The two story gallery and courtyard are
superlative spaces for experiencing contemporary art.
The gallery is located at 5321 Feagan
@ Detering, Houston, Texas.
The image is Joseph Cohen’s
Proposition 22, 48.5 x 44.5. Cohen's “Propositions” are
philosophical inquiries into both the nature of painting and human
perception. His process is akin to an odyssey, expounding on an
incessant engagement with paint, support, and the production of new
surfaces.
