Dr.
Fixit
Your
Guide to Home repairs
...drip...drip...drip...
"Hey honey! When are you gonna get this flippin'
faucet fixed?"
Sound familiar?
But really, who wants to spend time working at home when
you've been
working all week?
This can be a real dilemma because your problem is not so much the
work but all the frustration that comes along with it. Where do I
start?...do I have the correct tools?...what are the pitfalls?....where
do I go for help?...if I decide I don't want to take on the flippin'
drippin' faucet, who do I call?...how much should it cost? yada, yada,
yada...
"Hey sweetie, I have an idea...let's go to your mom's (sic)...okay?"
And still the drip continues...
But never fear; Dr. Fixit is here...well, maybe not physically but
certainly here in this new advice column. In the following months Dr.
Fixit, that's me, will be taking questions and offering step-by-step
solutions to your home repair issues. I also will be giving you seasonal
maintenance ideas to keep your home in tiptop order. If you are in the
market for a new home (or a home new to you) we'll be talking about what
to look for to avoid the wasteful purchase of a hidden money pit.
I'll be telling you some personal horror stories so you can learn
from my early mistakes. I'll also tell you about many successful first
tries and what made them so easy. Ideas about where to shop, who to ask,
and general knowledge about your current home repair will be tackled
along with all them other pertinent things ya' know...
Now back to that drippin' faucet...One of my favorite do-it-yourself plumbing stores used to have these
words on their marquee just below their name:
Everyone*s Welcome
We like drips
While you work on that faucet you may feel like a drip...but just wait.
Once there is peace and quiet at the home front you'll feel like...well,
gushing!
And so life goes on a little better now...
